Leadership
Manifesto

Leadership to me is the ability to lead a group to success. A leader should be able to gather the team and give them a boost when feeling low. A leader is someone that is admired and respected amongst colleagues and friends. He/she is also be able to appeal to their team's feelings and opinions.

As a leader, it is important to have your followers follow you. Back when I was a captain for my CCA, it was nice to know that my team trusted me and believed in me and followed me. I do believe that the reasons why they did continue to follow me was because firstly due me being able to encourage the heart of my team. As an individual, I feel that everyone deserves to be praised and recognized for the efforts that they have put in regardless small or big. Another reason is that I always try my best to model the way for everyone. I would be the first at trainings, showed a positive attitude in both training and games. This is evident when I started noticing more of my team showing up on time or even earlier than they usually are. Apart from that, I sometimes do adopt the servant leadership model. I would go around talking to my team members and catch up with them. Usually some of this catch up sessions are short but some do get really deep and help with some emotional healing. As a person, I would always think about others first. I would put the needs of others rather than mine.

In conclusion,  my leadership role as a captain in my CCA, gaining the trust and support of my team was crucial. I achieved this by encouraging their hearts, acknowledging and praising their efforts regardless of size. Leading by example, I consistently attended trainings with a positive attitude, prompting my team to follow suit and improve their punctuality. Additionally, I embraced a servant leadership model, engaging in meaningful conversations that fostered emotional healing and strengthened our bonds. Putting the needs of others first became a guiding principle for me, creating a collaborative and supportive leadership approach.
